Trans-Competency Training 101
May 1 or May 2

Join facilitators Mel Browning, LMFT, and Orlando O’Shea to learn valuable skills to work with the trans/non-binary community in a supportive and affirmative way.

This workshop is geared toward the cisgender community.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will have a good understanding of transgender basics and terms, the issues that the trans/non-binary community faces, and how to create a welcoming space for the transgender/non-binary population.

We will not be addressing medical procedures or in-depth therapeutic issues such as WPATH standards or legal and medical letters for insurance purposes. We are busy planning a virtual Professional Symposium that will address these issues in detail.

Mel Browning (he/him), LMFT, is a trans-affirming therapist at a local university, and has been taking part in trainings for TRANSLIFE and other organizations for three years.

Orlando O’Shea (he/him) is a founding committee member for TRANSLIFE, and works as a team lead and operator for Trans Lifeline, a suicide prevention hotline. He is on the board of directors of Positive Images and Sonoma County Pride.

  • Where: Online
